  • Notebook paper, 3 hole, NO SPIRALS (no fuzzy edges)    Wide- or college-ruled is fine however, if you have large handwriting, buy wide-ruled

  • Highlighters in at least 4 colors     (for analyzing literature and our own writing)

  • Small paper post-it tags for tagging our readings

ENGLISH 3, ENGLISH 4, AP ENGLISH - Edna Earney
High School
 

Have at school:

  • 2” binder, 3-ring, any color

  • 5-7 dividers for notebook    Labels:  Daily Openers, Grammar, Lit analysis, Journal, Writing Instruction Other labels are your choice.

  • Several “pockets” for your binder, or an 81/2x11’ zipper bag that is 3-hole punched, to keep graded vocab lessons in – you will tear them out of your book, and when I return them, you have to keep up with them.

  • Notebook paper, NO SPIRALS

  • Black ink pens, #2 pencils

  • A 3 hole-punched pencil/pen case for your notebook – handy for pens/pencils/highlighters/cards, etc.

  • Highlighters in at least 4 colors

  • Post-it tags for annotations (2”x1/2” paper)

  • 4x6 cards for class work and homework

  • Tissues

  • Book covers

Have at Home:

  • Paper, pen, pencil, post-it tags, highlighters

  • A system for studying your vocabulary cumulatively by units: rings, boxes with tabs, zip-lock bags, etc.

  • Access to an American Heritage Dictionary (must have etymology of words).  You may use dictionary.com online, or buy a paperback for about $5.99.

  • Access to a computer for word-processing several times a week; also, some handouts and webpages are made available online rather than copied for class.  Thus, you will need internet access.

  • An email address for receiving messages from Mrs. Earney; parents need a separate email address from students.  I communicate often with parents. Both the student’s email and the parents’ email need to be registered with the office on RenWeb. You need to be able to check your email several times weekly.
