Dear Parents,
I hope your summer is going well and that you all are blessed.
If you have driven by Legacy Christian Academy's campus in the last week, you noticed that things are great and active! The money raised for our playground is 95% complete and it should be installed by the end of July. Thank you for your efforts on this! Also, the portables have arrived and are being installed at all hours of the day. The faculty and staff are so excited for the new school year! Families are calling /registering every day and classes are filling up, so we thank God for that blessing.
I will be updating you with information as we continue to improve our website. First, we are hoping to move all the equipment from Cathedral at the end of July/beginning of August. We will need volunteers, as well as trucks, trailers, lowboys, etc. so if you can help please let us know by email or call the school office at 924-0500 ext. 2.
Second, we will have our Legacy Launch on Friday, August 12. The secondary school (grades 6-12) will be able to come to the gym from 1-3 pm to pick up schedules, have their yearbook picture taken (except seniors), go to their classrooms to pick up books, find and decorate their locker, etc. The packets to order pictures are currently in the office and can be picked up any time between 9 am-3pm Monday through Friday. You will need to pay for the pictures on Aug. 12. Checks need to be made out to Brent Christopher. School supply lists for each class will be posted on our website beginning July 25.
The elementary students will be able to come to the elementary office from 5-7 pm and pick up their school supply packs, then go on to their individual classrooms to meet their teacher, explore their new surroundings, etc. Pictures will be taken at a later date. The school supply packs are being sold by our PTF. Each teacher has given them the list of supplies needed for the year, and the PTF does a great job of purchasing them and bundling them for parents to purchase. It helps all the parents to buy the bundle and save money and time, as well as helping the PTF with fundraising!
Third, we will have an Open House for all families on Thursday, August 25 from 5-8 pm. We will be selling links, boudain, etc. so plan on having dinner here as well! A general orientation for elementary families will be in the gym from 5-5:45 pm then they will be able to go visit the classrooms and talk with their child's teacher. Secondary families will have their general orientation in the gym from 6-6:45 pm then they will be able to go visit the classrooms and talk with their child's teachers. Until then, we would like for you to consider becoming a member of the PTF and/or the Booster Club! The PTF is made up of parents, teachers, and friends who help the school with projects and fundraisers to benefit all our students. The Booster Club is the athletic association also made up of parents, teachers, and friends. They also do fundraisers to help with projects such as buying letter jackets for all our athletes, hosting the athletic banquets, and providing volunteers for all our sporting events. You will have an opportunity to sign up for these clubs at Open House!
Thanks for taking the time to read through this long email! Once again, we are so excited to have you here this fall and are blessed to educate and train your child. Please feel free to call me for any more infomation or questions at 924-0500 ext. 2.
In Him,
Rhonda Cregor

Cathedral School Parents:
Much progress has been made in the last 2 ½ weeks.
-
Teacher interviews have been completed and offers made. Contracts are being signed this week. Mr. W.T. Humble will be the principal for the new Legacy Elementary School.
-
An agreement has been reached with the owners of a set of temporary portable buildings that will provide 20 classroom spaces.
-
A Special Use Permit was filed with the City of Beaumont on March 23rd to allow the placement of the temporary classroom buildings on the Legacy property. A full hearing with the Zoning and Planning Commission and the City Council is scheduled for April 18th. Keep this important meeting in prayer.
- There has been $125,000 donated by individuals who have a high interest in seeing the elementary school continued at Legacy.
A CALL TO ACTION Please enroll your children for next year quickly. It will help us in planning how many classes for each grade we will need and to be able to order the proper amount of curriculum. FURTHER, talk to your friends and neighbors about possibly enrolling their children in Legacy Christian Academy Elementary School.
Updated List of Needs and Helps
-
Need to move 200 feet of a 6’ tall cyclone fence back from its position by a few feet.
-
Need someone with a low boy or trailer to pick up 200’ of used 4’ tall cyclone fence from a donor and deliver to our property for our future use.
-
Need three large pine trees cut and the stumps ground to make way for the portables.
-
Those with contacts with donors, grant giving foundations or organizations to pave the way for Legacy to submit requests for building a $3m permanent elementary structure and to make donations for the portables and new multi-purpose gym.
-
Donations for materials and labor related to moving portables to the campus:
a) dirt work;
b) electrical hookups;
c) plumbing hookups;
d) carpenters to build wall partitions, walk ways for the portables, and book shelves, etc.
Donated materials and labor would keep down the cash out of pocket and is very much needed.
Longer term needs remain at $3million for an approximately 30,000 square foot permanent structure for the Elementary grades.
Our purpose in updating this page is to communicate useful information to the Cathedral families interested in enrolling their children at Legacy Christian Academy. Please check back regularly, as we will update this page as we clarify details and as information becomes available for you.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 924-0500, or by emailing our staff through our “Contact” tab on our homepage.
- Legacy will separate the elementary students from other grade levels. They will be housed in a separate area on our 43 acre campus and there will be a separate drop off/pick up area as well.
- We will keep as many of the current programs as possible, e.g., music, foreign language, computer skills, AR Reading and AR Math. In fact 75% of the current teachers at Cathedral School have been hired as teachers for the new Legacy Elementary School.
- Current curriculum will be reviewed and integrated as deemed appropriate to develop an even stronger vertically integrated academic ladder as we prepare our students for college.
- Lunches will be catered daily from private vendors for $3.00 to $3.50 per day. Examples of our current vendors include Carlito’s, Chik-fil-A, Subway, and Novrosky’s. Students order and pay each morning for that day’s catered meal; they may also pay weekly. Students are always welcome to bring their own lunch.
- The details regarding uniforms and the dress code are being determined and will be posted here at a later date.
- Tuition and fee schedules are available through a tab on the left menu bar of the homepage. It has been determined that the additional charge for those who want an afterschool program that is available until 6:00p.m. will be $1490 per student beginning with K3 through 5th grade.
