POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

LCA has a rolling admissions policy, so applications may be submitted for consideration at any time during the year.  Through the admissions process, Legacy is seeking to enroll those students who desire to receive an excellent, Biblically integrated education.

Students are accepted upon evidence that they can succeed academically, are of good character, and can contribute in a positive manner to the spirit and morale at LCA.  Legacy can serve children of various academic abilities; however, LCA does not have adequate resources or qualified personnel to accommodate children with exceptional learning, physical, behavior, or emotional issues.

WHY Legacy?

  • 93% of all Legacy graduates attend college
  • Class of 2010 has a 100% acceptance rate into college
  • The average score on the SAT (math and critical reading) is 1040.
  • We provide a safe and family like environment with small class sizes that average 10:1 student/teacher ratio.
  • Over 90% of the student body participates in extracurricular activities that include:  athletics, drama, student government, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletics, Ensemble, Chess Club, Key Club, cheerleading etc.

PROSPECTIVE STUDENT SHADOWING

Shadowing is optional, but provides a prospective student a chance to observe classes and student life close up for a half or full day.  Prospective students are paired with a Legacy student of the same gender who shares some similar academic and/or extracurricular interests.

Shadowing takes place throughout the entire school year, Monday-Friday.  Even though any school day is an option, we strongly recommend choosing a Wednesday so your son/daughter can experience our weekly chapel service.

GRADES 6-12 Application Procedure for 2010-2011 school year

APPLICATION INSTRUCTION CHECKLIST

Enrollment Opens:  March 22, 2010

The applicant is responsible for ensuring that all steps in the application process are completed. Please refer to the following checklist as you work through the entire application process because it has been created to assist you with potential questions and/or problems.

Application/Student Questionnaire:
The application and student questionnaire must be completed, signed and returned to the school along with $350.00.  All but $100.00 is returned to the applicant if they choose not to attend LCA.  The receipt of the application fee, completed application and questionnaire initiates the formal application process.

Interview and Visit:
A personal interview with at least one parent or legal guardian and the potential new student is required.  Personal interviews are arranged by the applicant with the Director of Admissions after a student’s application is completed and on file.

Transcript/Student Records:
Enclosed is a “Transcript Release Authorization” form requesting the applicant’s transcript.  Please give the form to the principal/guidance counselor at the student’s present school, with instructions to mail/fax the transcript to the admissions office.  A Principal/Counselor evaluation is included on the “Transcript Release Authorization” form.

The transcript must include current courses, recent grades, and any standardized aptitude and/or achievement test scores.

Admission Test:
Students applying for admission into grades 6-12 are required to schedule a time with the Admissions Department to complete an Admissions Test.  In some cases additional tests (i.e. PSAT, Standford Achievement, SAT, etc.) may be required or used in place of the Legacy Admissions Test. For more information or to register for the test please call the office at 409-924-0500.

Upon completion of the admissions process families will be notified of the results by the Director of Admissions.
