Legacy Baseball 2009
The Legacy baseball team finished the year with a record of 6-13. On the final game of the season, the Warriors won a dramatic, come from behind win against playoff-bound Galveston O’Connell, winning 12-11. This win forced a playoff between two other teams to decide who made the playoffs.
With great leadership from seniors Myles McHenry, Keith Kopecky and James Geraci, the Warriors made substantial improvements in every area. The team also received a huge boost from transfer Tyler Palermo. There were also solid performances from returners Kendal Simmons, Blake Dennis, Colton McDonald and Kenlyn Washington, and freshman Sam Gallier.
James Urban was a welcome surprise and a huge help at third base and the outfield, even though he had never played baseball. Alan King, Gage Gardner and Darius Johnsen took on several roles and were an encouragement and help to the team. Although it was an up and down season, the Warriors had moments of superb baseball, such as losing a dramatic 8-7 game to the district winner Bay Area. This is all proof that hard work, determination, teamwork and great attitudes will pay off.
