Blanket Project

Those pictured are Mary Milligan, Maddison Smithhart, Ashley Smith (President of NHS 2013-2014) and Cecille Angulo (Vice President of NHS 2013-2014).  Cecille Angulo was the Chairman for the Blanket Project this year.

We donated 28 blankets, more than doubling the number we donated last year. The NHS members cut and assemble the fleece blankets after school one week during January. This is our second year for this project. The Hope Women's Resource Clinic places the blankets in their gift baskets for new moms and offers them as incentives for parenting classes also.

5 + 5 = 5

Because Legacy donates so many cake mixes and frostings, Some Other Place asks no other community/school group to collect desserts -- they don't even put it on their list of "Items to Donate" for the Thanksgiving Store!  Our donations not only stock the Thanksgiving Store, but also helps to provide desserts for the soup kitchen for the year.

Traditionally, teachers have offered 5 extra credit points on a major grade for donating 5 cake mixes AND 5 frostings; therefore 5+5=5!  Some teachers will accept a double donation, for 10 mixes + 10 frostings = 10 points extra credit.

This November Legacy classrooms collected cake mixes & frostings for the Some Other Place Thanksgiving Store.  Our grand total this year was 3,167! NHS will organize these donations, along with other groceries, for the Thanksgiving Store on Nov. 21.

Shamrocks Send a Kid to Kamp

NHS members joined in MDA's fund drive again this year, selling shamrocks to "Send a Kid to Kamp."  They held a class competition for a week of Friday dress to be awarded the week of April 16th. 

The junior class won!  NHS members sold a total of $500 worth of shamrocks.  Thanks to Legacy and all the supporters for participating in this worthy cause.
