Martha Wilcox, a senior at Legacy Christian Academy in Beaumont, won the Best Teen Chef 2008 Local Cook-off Competition at The Art Institute of Houston Saturday, April 12. She received a gold medal and a $5,000 scholarship.
She will represent the Houston Art Institute at the Best Teen Chef National Finals in Las Vegas on May 17 against 30 finalists from around the country and Canada.
In addition to a tuition scholarship, the one contestant named Best Teen Chef will have the unique opportunity to work as "Intern for a Day" at the Food Network Kitchens in New York City, including a tour of the Food Network Studios, dinner for two at a Food Network chef's restaurant, and a library of Food Network Kitchen Cookbooks.
