Cheerleading

“Being a cheerleader is not the easiest thing to do. We have to keep up with the game and cheer along with the fans at the same time. Our job is very important as we have to keep the stands and the team pumped. We don’t stop going. Our job may not be as hard as the football team’s, but we get tired, too. Even though we do get tired, we keep up the work. On time-outs, quarter changes and any other down time they have, we are to be stunting, spiriting, and tumbling. On touchdowns we jump and tumble and cheer as loud as possible. So we pray, cheer loud, and bleed green!”

Meagan McHenry and Phoebe Stevens, both 2007 graduates of Cathedral Christian High School, participated in yell leader tryouts at Baylor University. Meagan and Phoebe both cheered all four years of high school under the leadership of coach Karen LeBouef. They were captain and co-captain their senior year. Meagan is now a member of the all-girl squad and will cheer primarily at basketball games. Phoebe is a member of the co-ed squad which cheers at football and basketball games. These ladies mark Cathedral Christian’s / Legacy Christian’s first to move on to cheer at an NCAA Division 1 School.
