Cathedral Christian School

Legacy on facebook

The Legacy Vision and Mission is to provide a Christ-Centered, College prep education, and to partner with parents in developing Christian character and noble deeds that students apply to make a difference in the world and to reach their God-given destinies summarized by "Christ Curriculum Character"

Legacy Christian Academy provides a college preparatory culture of educational excellence wherein young men and women are trained spiritually, academically, physically, and artistically to reach their God-given destinies.

Holocaust Museum of Houston

The U.S. History and AP U.S. History classes took a field trip on April 1 to the Holocaust Museum of Houston.  It is an enrichment trip that culuminates our study on WWII.  The sobering exhibit is very informative and hopefully makes an impact on our own students and how they treat other people.

To lighten the mood we ate lunch and toured the Houston Zoo after the morning tour of the museum.

Spring Equinox

March 20th marks the day of Spring Equinox.  The time when the sun crosses the plane of the earth's equator, making night and day of approximately equal length all over the earth.  Legend has it that on this day you can balance an egg on it's end.

Students in Mrs. Winslow's JH Computer Concepts class where determined to find out.  As you can see the experiment was mostly a success for Nick Wilcox, Corey Dennis and Taylor Morrison.

Sam Volrie, Chris Patureau, Randy Wilson and Mrs. Ishee got in on the act as well!

Mrs. Ishee's Bible class gave it a try outside with outstanding results by Logan Ishee, Taylor Hudson, Allie Wilson, Van German, Caraline Ishee, and Katelyn Kirk!

Enthusiastically, Dr. Pricer announced that Legacy Christian Academy and Cathedral in the Pines have reached an agreement that allows Legacy to start a sixth grade on our campus beginning in August, 2009! This agreement allows us to offer middle school, 6th through 8th grade, on one campus, thereby vertically teaming our curriculum and enhancing our sports and extra curricular activities.

An added bonus for parents:  The boards agreed that both schools will offer a sixth grade for next year, and the tuition for sixth grade at Legacy will be the same as the tuition for sixth grade at Cathedral next year.  This gives parents the opportunity to choose their child’s transition year to middle school, rather than choose based on finances.

What are some of the advantages to parents who place their sixth grader with Legacy?

  • The student will transition at the same time other sixth graders traditionally transition to middle school, socially adjusting to a different grade level and different campus at the same time as other middle schoolers.

  • The student will have a vertically teamed middle school curriculum, rather than switching scope and sequence after one year.

  • The student will make friends and socially bond with other middle school sports and extra curricular students.

  • The student will have an extra year in middle school to adjust to Legacy’s atmosphere, schedule, and expectations.

Re-enrollment and registration begins soon!

Lady Warriors in Galveston

After Hurricane Ike devastated Galveston Island, Legacy's Varsity Volleyball team decided to lend a helping hand. Galveston O'Connell lost their library and all of their sports equipment to the storm.  So, the team hosted a book drive and collected over 1,200 books.  Also, Legacy families donated $350 towards the purchase of new sports equipment.
