The Davis Family chose Legacy because of the school’s commitment to put God first in everything. Equally important is the fact that Legacy is truly a college preparatory school which pushes students to their limits to motivate them to become critical thinkers.

Their best joint venture is their four lovely children. She is also very involved with them both inside and outside of school to include leadership roles at Legacy, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Her family is also very involved with Arabian horses, ranching, and soccer. Most importantly, she wants her children to know Christ. She feels Legacy is the spiritual educational environment that will encourage their walk with God. She loves to travel with her family, especially if it involves horses or sports.
Jerry Nelson started with humble beginnings. At age 18, Jerry's father loaned him and his brother $5000 and told them "Make it Work". Jerry held true to his grassroots beginnings and "made it work". Jerry now operates one of the most successful oilfield equipment businesses in the world, Maverick International based out of Beaumont, TX. Over the years, Jerry has had many other thriving businesses to include Jerry's Hill Country Restaurant in Beaumont, TX and Elise's Playhouse in Winnie, TX, and the Kentucky Mavericks Professional Basketball franchise, which was located in Owensboro, KY.
While Nelson has enjoyed much success in his many entrepreneurial endeavors, he is quick to tell you that his greatest accomplishment is his family. Jerry and his wife Beverly of over 40 years, have two children Candace and Jerry III, and four grandchildren.
Still just as industrious as yesteryear, he enjoys 12 to 14 hour workdays at Maverick International and credits his grandmother, his mother, and his father as the most influential people in his life. He would most like to be remembered as someone who helped those in need, a man who strived for the impossible, and a man of his word.
